FEDERAL JUDICIAL SERVICE:
United States District Court, Northern District of California. Nominated by Harry S Truman on January 17, 1947, to a seat vacated by Martin I. Welsh; Confirmed by the Senate on February 5, 1947, and received commission on February 7, 1947. Sat as the resident District Judge in Sacramento from 1947 to 1954.

United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on April 6, 1954, to a new seat created by 68 Stat. 871; Confirmed by the Senate on April 27, 1954, and received commission on April 29, 1954. Maintained chambers in Sacramento, while presiding over court proceedings at the court's headquarters in San Francisco. Served until his death on April 26, 1958.

EDUCATION: Stanford University, A.B., 1908.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER: Law librarian, California State Library, 1908-1910. Private practice, Sacramento, California, 1910-1933. Judge, Superior Court of Sacramento County, California, 1933-1947. President, Sacramento Rotary Club.
