An Interview with Judge Halbert

The four audio recordings on this page are excerpts from an interview with Senior United States District Judge Sherrill Halbert, on March 24, 1988, on the occasion of the donation of his collection of books and memorabilia on the life of Abraham Lincoln to the McGeorge School of Law. The Lincoln Collection, on loan from McGeorge, is now on public display in the court library of the new United States Courthouse, 501 I Street, Sacramento, California. The original 30 minute tape of this interview is in the custody of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California Historical Society.

The fifth and final exerpt is a video clip from Judge Halbert's oral history completed a few weeks before that interview. (It is best captured with a high speed broadband connection and may take a while to load, so please be patient. Unfortunately, visiters with a dial up modem will probably be unable to view it.) The full transcript of his oral history is in the custody of the Historical Society.
